The sectioned microstrip antennas
Last modified: 2014-06-25
Abstract
The term 'sectioned microstrip antenna' implies a patch antenna consisting of several separate sections. The availability of several sections and a special excitation circuit consisting of lumped reactances makes it possible to decrease the patch sizes as compared to the ordinary half-wavelength patch antenna, and to obtain rotating polarization of the antenna radiation field, and to realise an antenna with two antenna inputs. Moreover, right-hand and left-hand rotating polarizations correspond to these two inputs. The present paper deals with patch antennas comprised of two, three or four similar sectors. These antennas are excited by one or two cables going through the patch borders.
