Abstract

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of airborne phased array (PA) can be improved by setting before them the frequency-selective surfaces (FSS) as a shield. In this article we investigate radiation and scattering characteristics of the model in the form of PA of rectangular waveguides with FSS-shield of semielliptical shape in HFSS. The simplified FSS model represents the infinite periodic array densely packed mutually perpendicular H-shaped slots created between strip conductors on a dielectric substrate.

The influences of FSS-shield in PA field electrically larder sizes are considered with use simplified two-dimensional the PA models.

The executed numerical researches of radiation and scattering characteristics of waveguide PA with FSS-shield show, that it slightly changes the form of PA radiation pattern. The shield introduction in additionally lowers antenna scattered field. The developed models allow reducing periods and cost of design of all system of “FSS-shield” as a whole taking into accounts EMC requirements.
