Abstract

Gigantic antennas for space use are needed in many potential applications and have different features from gigantic antennas for terrestrial use. This paper first enumerates the application fields and relevant requirements. The actual antenna for space VLBI and satellite Haica is described with our experiences in the development process. Current activities on gigantic antennas with diameter larger than several hundred meters are presented in relation with SPS.
