Abstract

Cross-polarization characteristics of both a single-mode and a multimode open-ended circular waveguide with TE11mode excitation are calculated on the basis of rigorous Weinstein's theory. An optimum operating frequency band ensuring the minimum level of cross-polarization is determined. The measurement of copolar and cross-polarization characteristics of a single-mode open-ended circular waveguide was carried out. The theoretical polarization characteristics of the waveguide excited with the dominant mode are in a good agreement with the experimental ones.
